8th graders: The Joys of Summer

The joys of summer are over but the memories stay and brighten our autumn days.

I went to Pacug on 11th of August with my friends. When the bus arrived in Ljubljana we started our journey. I was happy when I saw my best friend Vita. We were in the same room. The first day we introduced ourselves. I was very happy because all the girls in my room were so kind and funny. Then I saw my crush Ian from the last year. We talked and I fell in love. I was so happy. We danced at late nights, we played volleyball and we even went to the beach every day. One night we went to Piran with teachers and friends. It was so great. We were in Pacug for 10 days. They were the best 10 days in my summer. The last day we cried and I got a lot of hugs. It was very difficult. When I came back home I was just sad because I knew that I would not see them one year.

During my holidays I had a really good time. I slept longer and I stayed up late at night. I was playing outside with my brother, primarily basketball. Me and my family went on a holiday to Croatia. There was a beautiful sea. We were swimming and snorkelling. I also went parasailing. That was so much fun. We were there for 10 whole days. At home I played video games and solved a lot of Rubik’s Cubes. I also had a summer job. I worked in a car wash. The holidays went by really fast. And I can’t wait till next summer holidays.

This holidays me and my family went to Africa on island Zanzibar in the country Tanzania. After a long flight we went to the capital city named Stone town. After that we went to the north of the island, to another city. The city was near the water, so we were swimming and riding horses on the beach. And for the last week we went on the east side of the island to a hotel. The hotel’s location was on the beach. In this hotel I met a new friend and we went swimming and one time we went on a boat ride to see and swim with the dolphins. For me the worst part of the trip were flights to Zanzibar and home. Because the flight in one direction took 16 hours. And even worse was me stepping on a sea urchin and the poison made me feel weak. But the best part was snorkelling and swimming with the dolphins.

When holidays started I was home doing some work on a farm. I was playing a lot of football in June and July. At the end of July I went to the seaside in the company of firefighters. There were a lot of my friends. Two weeks after this camping I went to the seaside with my family. We were staying at a small apartment and each day we walked almost 6 km (to the beach and back). All weeks, when I was at the seaside I swam a lot. I am a very good swimmer and I love swimming. I forgot to mention that we were at the seaside on island Krk. I was also cycling a lot. Me and my dad were cycling almost every weekend. At the end of holydays I had a few sleepovers at my friends. We also bought a new tractor, because we live on a farm. This tractor is made by Lamborghini and it has 90 horse powers. It is grey, and it looks beautiful. At our farm we have around 10 bulls and 4 chickens. We also have a dog and a cat. The Lamborghini isn’t the only tractor we have. We also have two very old tractors. One is made by Zetor and the other one is Fiat Štore.

This year, me and my family went on a vocation to Pag, Croatia. We went by car. We drove for 3 hours. After 3 hours we stopped at friends in Croatia. Then we went to the ferry, which took us to the island of Pag. When we arrived at the apartment, me and my brother, immediately went to the beach and went diving. We found a lot of shells and sea stars. Every day of vocation we went to a different beach. Since many of my friends were on Pag at the same time as me , I hung out with them every day. My favourite day was one day before we went home, because I went to camp Straško. This day I was with my friend Zala, who is also a climber. We had so much fun riding an electric scooter and playing at giant aquapark. The last day when we were returning home, we stopped at our friends at Stinica near Pag, where we took a boat ride and went swimming. I had a lot of fun this summer holidays.

This year summer holiday was fun. First day off I was enjoying the free time. There was no school so it was fun. I went to the seaside for some days a few times in the holidays. We came back and I was at home. Since this summer was very hot, I was outside with friends a lot. We played many different sports and it was great. The best time to be outside was later in the evening or at night. I also met a few new friends. I went to Ljubljana quite a few times. I also travelled across Slovenia with friends and family. I especially enjoyed playing video games and listening to music, because that is the best way for me to relax. I also experienced different interesting things and ate some delicious kinds of food. But then, I needed to start preparing for school. I also did a recap of the more important subjects. And as they say: “All good things come to an end.” Just like that, this holiday ended and we are already back in school.
